Modification of wool for improving dyeability with reactive dyes
MCT and VS reactive dyes have almost complete exhaustion and ideal fixation on polyepichlorophydrin-amine polymer pretreated wool at pH6 without addition of salt. The dyeing behaviour of CI reactive red 15 on modified wool under pH6 condition was found to be a dual adsorption curve of Langmuir type and Freundlich-type. Dyed modified wool showed good wash fastness, dry and wet rub fastnesses and light fastness. The quality of such coloured wools can meet quality requirements and the dyeing effluents were less polluted especially with bifunctional reactive dyes.
