Study on parameters of nanometer titanium dioxide for photocatalysis and the degradation of formaldehyde on woolen fabric

As one of the new environmentally protected materials which have the property of photocatalysis, nanometer titanium dioxide (TiO<,2>) has been receiving the widespread attention because of its multitudinous excellent performances, the applied researches extend to the energy, the environmental protection, the building materials, the medical treatment and sanitation etc. The paper mainly based on its application in gas-phase photoeatalysis, aiming at formaldehyde-an indoor pollutant that badly endangers human health. The properties on degrading formaldehyde of the nonwoven fabric and woolen fabric treated with TiO<,2> were investigated in this study according to the orthogonal testing method. The capacity of TiO<,2>, the luminous intensity of UV-ray and the reaction time were chosen as the operation parameters to optimize the experiment. The results show that in order to exert photoeatalysts property better for degrading the formaldehyde on woolen fabric, the capacity of TiO<,2> on fabric and the luminous intensity of UV-ray needed to be moderate, because TiO<,2> has so strong oxidizability that can have a negative influence on fiber. Simultaneously, the longer the reaction time is, the more notable the effect of photoeatalysis is.
