An improved Hardware Implementations of DWT based on Flipping Structure
The flipping structure speeds up the calculation of lifting scheme. The flipping-based recursive architecture (FRA) is proposed to implement the multilevel DWT. The FRA recursively interleaves the computations of all resolution levels into the same hardware to achieve higher hardware utilization. Considering the precision issues, the quantization method of the six flipping coefficients is investigated, as a result, the performance, hardware size, hardware speed and energy are all improved. It concludes that the proposed architecture is simple, regular multiplierless, and easily scalable compared with previous researches.
