Sensor Fault Detection and Isolation Based on Reduced Order Observer and Fault-Tolerant Control
This paper considers Fault detection and isolation problems for linear systems under sensor fault with known dynamic characteristics but unknown ini- tial conditions and initial time of the fault. A reduced order observer-based sensor fault detection approach is proposed in this paper which utilizes the observer to detect the sensor fault directly but the state. This approach is different from other detection approaches based on the observer which are more complicated and need some auxiliary information, but this approach dispenses with any other auxiliary information such as the parity equations or residuals etc. To make the system normally work under a sensor fault, a fault-tolerant control law is designed. A practical example is used to demonstrate that the this fault detection scheme and the fault-tolerant control law are efficient.
