Forest Fire Exploration Approach with Passive Infrared Radar
This paper proposes a forest fire exploration approach with passive infrared radar composed of big size aperture optical lens, infrared sensor and three-dimensional precision pan/tilt. This passive infrared radar installed on a lofty place of forest can continuously layer-scan thermal field of forest and can locate the forest fire by analyzing infrared radiation of exceptional temperature range over 150 centigrade. It can monitor and locate the forest fire within visibility range timely. It can also monitor the forest fire outside visibility range by scanning infrared radiation field imaging over forest fire field and acquire the important information of forest fire prevention, such as the location and burn-up area of forest fire, and so on. We propose a conception of fire equivalent area to approximately calculate the actual forest fire area for convenient quantitative calculation. This forest fire exploration approach with passive infrared radar can locate forest fire within 3 to 5 kilometer timely and accurate, it can also detect forest fire within 5 to 10 kilometer indirectly by applications in the Laoshan mountain.
