Mechanical properties of allotriomorphic ferrite and bainite microstructure in plain low carbon steel
The continuous cooling transformation (CCT) behavior of a low carbon steel was investigated by means of Gleeble-1500 hot simulator in deformed condition. The corresponding CCT diagrams were constructed. Based on the obtained results, allotriomorphic ferrite and high volume fraction of bainite structure could be obtained by controlled deforming in the finish rolling temperature (higher than Ae3) and controlled cooling at a cooling rate of 40 ℃/s. The resultant increase in volume fraction of bainite would lead to an enhanced strength of the low carbon steel and the steel possesses a good combination of strength and toughness.
