Calculating time Analysis in Solution of Transient Temperature by Finite Element Method
A 2D transient temperature field was analyzed by developed finite element programs. It was found that calculating model is reliable through comparing the calculating results with measured results. The influence of time-step and element mesh on calculating time and results were analyzed. On the base of analysis, a new calculating method of variable time-step was proposed. The results showed that time-step have more important influence on calculating time than calculating results when using invariable time-step. However, element mesh has more important influence on calculating time and results. Variable time-step with S shape curves not only improves calculating accuracy of temperature in initial time but also reduces calculating time greatly. The analytic results provide theoretical basis for applying finite element method to set temperature on line.
