Effect of Si<3>N<4> Content on Al<2>O<3>-SiC-C Self-flow Castables and its Application

The Al<2>O<3>-SiC-C self-flow castable was prepared using alumina produced by electrical fused bauxite, silicon carbide and micro powders as main raw materials. The effects of silicon nitride on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the castable were investigated. The results show that with increasing the content of Si<3>N<4>, the mechanical properties of the castable increase, and corrosion resistance to iron slag of the samples were also remarkably improved. The Al<2>O<3>-SiC-C self- flow castable with suitable content of Si<,3>N<,4>has been applied in 3200m<3> blast furnace trough and runner, showing obvious increase of durability.
