Study on the Properties of Electroplated Ni-W-P-B<,4>C Composite Coatings

The influence of B<,4>C adding to the plating solution on the electrodeposited Ni-W-P-B<,4>C composite coatings is discussed in this paper. XRD shows that the phase of the composite coatings is amorphous as deposited. After heated 4 hours at 400℃ , the composite coatings change into crystalline, the main phases are Ni<,3>P, NiW, WB and Ni. SEM shows that the section micrograph of composite coatings is even and solid particles are scattering well in the coatings. The micro-hardness of the coatings is high and the value is 891.1-1253.5Hv. The friction resistance of the composite coatings is good with B <4>C particles in the coatings. The suitable concentration of the B<4>C is 50/L in the electroplating solution.
