Solubility of NiFe<,2>O<,4> in Cryolite-based Melts

The solubility of Nickel Ferrite (NiFe<,2>O<,4>) has been measured in as a function of electrolyte composition and temperature. The solubilities of NiFe <,2>O<,4> increased with decreasing alumina concentration. In usual melts (3%Al<,2>O<,3>, 5%CaF <,2>, CR=2.3), the solubilities of NiFe<,2>O<,4> for temperature ranging from 975 to 1030℃ are represented by the relationships, In (wt.%Fe) =5.06- 9909/T and In (wt.%Ni) =3.58-9941/T respectively. Meanwhile the solubilities for Fe<,2>O<,3> and NiO are represented by the equations, In (wt. %Fe) =4.11- 8153/T and In (wt.%Ni) =2.08-7472/T respectively. Attention was also paid to the effect of NiO contents on the solubilities of NiFe<,2>O<,4>-NiO composite ceramic. The solubilities of composite ceramic decreased moderately with increasing NiO contents.
