Authigenic Carbonates Formation in the Sediments Associated with Methane Gas-Hydrates (Sea of Okhotsk)

The gas-hydrate bearing seepage structures in the Derugin Basin at the Central Part of the Sea of Okhotsk were investigated in detail during 36th cruise of the R/V Akademik M.A. Lavrentyev. Expedition was conducted within the framework of the CHAOS project. The twenty-eight sediment cores were taken; nine of them contained gas hydrates. Numerous carbonates have been collected within the limits of 19 sites. Results of their mineralogical and isotopic investigations are discussed in the present paper.
