Study on Visible Light Photocatalytic Properties of Nitrogen Doped Tio<,2>

In order to utilize sun light, save energy, and expand application area, visible light response TiO <,2> has become one of the most important issues. Nitrogen-doping was used to improve visible light absorption of catalyst in this research. It mainly focused on the preparation of high efficient visible light response TiO<,2>. Urea was usd as nitrogen resource in pyrogenation and the prepared photocatalyst had high photocatalytic activity. The test on photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light was carried out using TiO <,2> as catalyst and fluorescence light as simulation light resource respectively. The factors affecting photocatalytic degradation with nitrogen doped TiO <,2> are considered, such as baking temperature, baking time, N content, catalyst quantity, and ultrasonic shake, to find out the optimal preparation condition. Through N-doping on TiO<,2>, the electrons of N2p and O2p orbit mixed together, as a result, the bandgap became narrow, the light absorption range of catalyst extended to visible light, and the catalyst became visible light response. The removal of MB was 94.8% under the optimal conditions.
