Synthesis of Linear Polyethylene by a Novel Zirconocene
A novel zirconium complex, ansa- Cyclohexyl-bis (4, 5, 6, 7- tertrahydro -l-indenyl) zirconium dichloride (1) was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Activated by methyl aluminoxane (MAO), zirconium complex 1 displays high catalytic activity of 0.46×10<6> to 9.87×10<6>gPE (molZr)<-1>h<-1> for the homo-polymerization of ethylene. The visometric molecular weight of polyethylene (PE) ranges from 1.08×10<4>gmol<-1> to 11.16×10<4>gmol<-1> under the given conditions. The melting point of the polymer determined by DSC and characterization data of IR and <13>C NMR all show the synthesis of high molecular weight linear polyethylene (LPE) with low branching extent.
