Development of Industrial Ethernet Gateway Based on Ethernet/IP Protocol
Fieldbus can connect industry devices and build up devices network easily. But some enterprises adopt different fieldbus protocols which are incompatible with other enterprises for their own interest so that devices in different bus networks communicate with each other difficultly. On the other hand, it is difficult and needs extra cost that connecting fieldbus to office network mostly built in Ethernet protocol though enterprises need it. Industrial Ethernet will be the main orientation of control system network and can easily realize amalgamation of devices network with office network. This paper discusses on popular industrial Fieldbus, Ethernet and EtherNet/IP protocol, and analyzes implementing EtherNet/IP protocol as an embedded gateway, which is developed on a 32bit high performance microprocessor S3C2410, to realize interconnection between DeviceNet network and Ethernet network.
