Research of Edge Detection Based on Fuzzy Inference

An algorithm of edge detection based on fuzzy inference is presented in this paper. There are 32 edge models in a 3×3 template, and the template is divided into two parts. According to these models, 32 if-then fuzzy inference rules are combined to generate a fuzzy set of potential edge pixels. With 4 fuzzy rules, the redundant edge points are deleted, and then a membership threshold is used to practical edge points. In the end, the experiment result is given to testify the algorithm.
