Sustaining Good Relationships among the Construction Supply Chain Members
Long-term collaborative relationships have been characterized as a fundamental role in construction supply chain management (CSCM), but there are a few researches to explore the issue more fully involved the process where good relationships do work strategically on the basis of social exchange theories devoted to relationship evolution. This paper, comprising both static and dynamic perspectives, revised a concept of good relationship through advancing existing knowledge about reciprocal relationships in the context of construction supply chain. After synergized different perspectives on relationship and analyzing the process of construction, a new conceptual model of integrated relationships sustaining has been build-up. Apart from types and attributors of relationship, the improvement of supply chain seems to be affected by structure of relationships in particular the client and contractors held substantial powerful position between supply chain relationships in the reality. Moreover, considering complexity and uncertainty of the construction circumstances giving rise to relationships initiation, the relationship value is embedded in not only outcome of each event of construction project(the episode level)and the process of value creation in supply chain (the relationship level), but also the network of all members.
