DISPERSION MODELS APPLING INURBAN TRAFFIC ALR QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF GUANGZHOU CITY
With vehicle population increasing, urban environment is mostly dominated by vehicle emissions in most mega-cities. Guangzhou already has a vehicle population of 1.77 million in 2005, where vehicle exhaust gases is a major source of air pollution. To obtain the available data for traffic air quality assessment, We have developed a urban scale dispersion modeling system (Environment Simulation & Assessment System (ESAS)). The system includes a meteorological pre-processing model and a statistical and graphical analysis of the computed time series of concentrations, which can be used to simulate the dispersion of exhaust gases on the traffic network of Haizhu district in Guangzhou with real-time traffic flow and wind direction. Parameter models based on empirical formulas are used for calculating simple open road emissions easily; numerical models need to solve the differential equations suitable for complicated street canyons emissions. The model results show that the distribution of pollutant concentration on the region around traffic network. Comparing the simulation data with automatic monitoring data on the same location, the availability of these models has been proved. Analyzing these results, the assessment of traffic air quality in Haizhu district can be made.
