POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION EXPERIENCE IN DISCIPLENARY PREMISES
The primary design objective of a building is to provide space and infrastructure for its occupants in an effective and efficient manner meeting the occupants need. With advance in technology, Building Services (BS) systems designed for modern buildings are becoming more and more sophisticated. These BS systems are essential in facilitating the effective and efficient operation of the buildings meeting the occupants need. It is therefore imperative that the BS systems designed therein shall meet the occupants need without compromising the energy performance. Moreover, their maintenance aspects have to be properly taken care of. Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) is a tool used for evaluating the performance of the BS systems after the building is occupied. The evaluation focuses on occupants need, energy performance and client satisfaction. During the POE process, information in areas of operational performance monitoring and handover; ‘energy review as well as new technologies is collected. The information so gathered, together with the users feedback, is systematically analysed and evaluated, based on which recommendations on improvement initiatives are made. This paper presents a POE experience gained in one recently completed project (the Project), which is a disciplinary premises of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.
