Introversion-Extroversion & Neuroticism-Stability And EFL Proficiency of Chinese College Students-Research Findings of 175 non-English majors
For many years, researchers have been engaged in the study of foreign language acquisition. They have found many factors contributing to English study, such as learning habits and learning environment. Recently, they have converted their attention to another important factor-personality. Among numerous personality dimensions, introversion-extroversion & neuroticism-stability are the most important ones. And the relatioaships between introversion- extroversion & neuroticism-stability and SLA (Second Language Acquisition) or EFL (English as a Foreign Language) proficiency have widely been studied by using different kinds of personality instruments. Since there were fewer studies of them in China, my study aims at testing the hypotheses that in an EFL situation, extraverted college students and emotionally-stable college students would attain a high proficiency in English learning.
