Integrating Evacuation Traffic Simulation Model with Flood Risk System in A GIS Environment

Evacuation is the most common action during an extreme disaster. This study integrates evacuation traffic simulation model with flood risk system in a GIS (Geographic Information System) environment. Flood disaster risk system based on GIS was used to analyze flood disaster area. According to demographic data of flood area, GIS created population spatial distribution and road network structure. Evacuation traffic simulation model was employed to model evacuation traffic process. The model can analyze evacuation clearance time and bottleneck segments of the network. The model was used to simulate Changxing Island flood evacuation traffic process. And analyses were given to optimize evacuation plan based on the model results.
