Study on micromechanism, physical and mechanical indexes of swamp soil
Swamp soil is different from common soft soil mentioned in civil engineering both in microstructure and physic-mechanical properties. The void ratio of common soft soil varies generally from 1 to 3, but that of swamp soil often exceeds 3. The experimental study on fundamental properties of several types of soils from the wetland in Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China and in Beijing is carried out. The theory and experimental technique about micrstructure of soft soil are used to study the swamp soil. The micromechanism of swamp soil is preliminarily analyzed in aspects of micromorphic, microstructure characteristic, mode arrangement of soil particle, pore-size distribution, organic content and mineral composition etc. The correlation of micromechanism, physicochemical properties and mechanical properties is studied, which not only provides a help to understand physical and mechanical properties of swamp soil but also presents reference for engineering application.
