Study on Efficiency and Major Parameters of Two Macrophytes on Domestic Sewage Treatment
In order to make some contributions to design and operate local constructed wetlands (CWs), two kinds of aquatic plants were selected to process Domestic Wastewater in plastic barrels with no substrates. Two tested species Ranunculus sceleratus L., Rumex acetosa L. both have good treatment effects on ammonia-N (NH4+-N), total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP), the average removal ratios could respectively reach 100%, 90.52% and 88.77%. The major parameters discussed in this paper include plants biomass, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and plants uptake capability. The results show that the removal effects have a high correlation with biomass while gradually diminishes with the prolonging of HRT; The optimal HRT is about 5d, no matter longer or shorter cant achieve highest removal effects; The last but most important affect is plant uptake ability, plants still play an important role in removing nitrogen and phosphorus with moderate load-the average contribution rates are 34.5% and 52.4%.
