Experimental study on nitrogen transport from Leachate in an aquitard: A case study in Longquan Mountain municipal landfill, Hefei
Nitrate pollution in groundwater has already become the furthest universal environmental problem in many arcas today. The Leachate from landfill is an important pollution source. To study the mechanism of nitrogen transport from the landfill to groundwater, Hefei Longquan Mountain municipal landfill is selected as a case; The variety of pH and nitrogen of the leachate in the year of 2006 is monitored and analyzed; The simulated test for nitrogen transport in an acquitard in the bottom of the landfill is conducted. Results show that: (1) nitrogen pollution of landfill leachate is mainly ammonia and the average value of pH is 8.41; (2) The acid condition has no evident influence to nitrogen concentration, while ammonia decreases and nitrate increases along with increase of pH in alkaline condition; (3) The thickness of the aquitard has an important influence on the NO3--N remove, however, it is hardly effective for removing the ammonia(NH3-N) and the nitrite(NO2--N).
