Commercialization Activities of Supercritical Fluid Technology in Korea
During the recent decades, basic researches and process and product developments of the supercritical fluid technology have been conducted in attempts to develop commercial manufacturing processes in Korea. This paper reviews some noticeable cases of the SCF process developments and production of functional materials with these processes are briefly discussed with emphasis on the commercialization efforts. Discussion includes the large-scale SFE processes in food and pharmaceutical industries, recovery of catalyst using environmentally-benign SCWO (Supercritical Water Oxidation) process of industrial toxic wastes, and target-oriented functional material fabrication processes such as inorganic nano-scale particles by utilizing SCF media.
