Diffusion Coefficients of VO 2+ in Ion Exchange Membranes for All Vanadium Redox Flow Battery
The diffusion coefficients of VO 2+ across four kinds of ion exchange membranes were measured using Nernst-Plank equation. The results indicated that the permeation of VO2+ cross the membrane was dominated by the dissolution of VO 2+ in the membrane phase. The highest value of diffusion coefficient was 11.7 ×10-12m2/s in CEDI membrane, while the lowest was 8.7 ×10-14m 2 /s in the AEDI membrane. The energy loss decreased with the SOC of battery increasing during charge while increased with the decreasing SOC during discharge.
