Solubility measurement and prediction of methane in sodium chloride aqueous solution containing gas hydrate
Clathrate hydrate is considered as an important future energy resource. Literature phase equilibrium data of methane-hydrate systems are mostly on three-phase equilibria and solubility data in water-rich phase are rare especially in the presence of salts. In this study, solubility of methane in water-rich phase containing methane gas hydrate was measured using an indirect method in the presence of sodium chloride at 10.1-15.1MPa and 278-284K. The solubility of methane was found to decrease with the addition of the electrolyte. The solubility was predicted using an electrolyte nonrandom lattice fluid equation of state with the parameters determined from electrolyte-free hydrate containing systems and hydrate-free electrolyte solutions.
