Application of Combined Trapezoid Spray Tray to the Revamping of Crude Benzol Refining Unit
Combined trapezoid spray tray (CTST) is one of spray trays with special trapezoid structure. The plate possesses advantages such as higher flux and efficiency, lower pressure drop, better blockage and foaming resistance. This paper introduces the application of CTST to the revamping of crude benzol refining unit, presents its structure and operational performance. Crude benzol refining is to distal benzene, toluene and xylene from coking crude benzene. Now F1 valve tray is widely used in crude benzol refining plants of China. The efficiency and flux of F1 valve tray is lower, so the recovery of benzene is lower and the content of CS2 in benzene product is higher. Advanced simulation software was used to optimize the revamping project and the optimized project was put into practice. In one of the crude benzol refining unit of Shanxi, China, F1 valve trays were replaced by CTST with the same process flow and the main equipments. As aresult, the production capacity increased from 1.5kt/a to 4.0kt/a, the content of CS2 in benzene product decreased from 60ppm to below 20ppm, the distillation range of toluene shortened to 1 ℃,and the qualities of benzene, toluene and xylene were improved evidently.
