Study on liquid-solid extraction flotation separation of mercury (Ⅱ) by the system of ammonium sulfate– potassium iodide-cetyl pyrinium bromide-water
The liquid-solid extraction flotation separation behaviours of mercury (¢ò) from other metal ions using the system of ammonium sulfate-potassium iodide-cetylpyrinium bromide-water was studied. The results showed that with the amount of 1.5 mL of the solution of 0.1 mol/L KI and 1.0 mL of the solution of 1.0×10 -3 mol/L cetylpyrinium bromide (CPB), the ternary association complex of KI-CPB-Hg floated above the salt-water phase and formed two phases with clear interface in the presence of 1.0g (NH4)2SO4. In this condition Zn 2+, Mn 2+, Ni 2+,Co 2+, Fe 2+, Al 3+ could not be extraction floated and Hg 2+ could be extraction floated quantitatively at pH7.0. The method has been used for the extraction flotation separation of Hg 2+ in synthetic water sample and the results were satisfactory.
