Caffeine and Catechin Extraction from Korea Green U sing Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Caffeine was extracted from Korea green tea using supercritical carbon dioxide with water as a cosolvent. Experiments were set to extract large amount of caffeine and to extract small amount of catechin at the same time. The experiments were carried out in a 230 mL extractor at temperatures ranging 40-80 ℃ And pressure ranging 200-400 bars with water content ranging 19.4-29.4 wt%. At the extract conditions of 40 ℃, 400 bars and water content of 29.4 wt%, caffeine extraction yield was 54 % while catechin extraction yield was 21 %.
