CO2 separation process using aqueous ammonia
The novel CO2 capture process using aqueous ammonia was successfully operated. The process produced CO2 with purity of over 99.9 vol% from the simulated gas containing 10 vol. % of CO2 with recovery of 90% of CO2 in the transfer capacity range of 0.037 to 0.044 g-CO2/g-solution. Raman analysis of CO2 loaded absorbent provided relatively accurate concentrations of carbon containing species. The optimum absorption temperature turned out to be in the range of 288 to 293K since the reduced mass transfer canceled out the effect of increased CO2 solubility in ammonia water at lower than 288K.
