Adsorptive Desulfurization of Light Cycle Oil
In order to convert l ight cycle oil (LCO) into diesel feed, 9400 ppmw of sulfur in LCO must be reduced to less than 10 ppmw by desulfurization. In this study, various types of activated carbons, metal ion exchanged zeolites, and mesoporous silica have been applied for the selective removal of sulfur compounds in LCO. Metallic nickel supported on mesoporous silica showed highest sulfur adsorption capacity of 15.98 mg/g among the adsorbents.
