Alkali metal removal from low rank coal extracts using ion exchange
Removal of alkali metal (Na) ion from coal dissolved organic solvent was attempted using inorganic ion exchangers. Inorganic ion exchangers of metal phosphate type were prepared and their performances were tested in a batch type autoclave at the temperature range of 200 to 400 ℃. All of the metal phosphates showed excellent Na + ion removal efficiency. Their removal efficiencies were around 100% at 350 ℃. However, removal efficiency of H-Y zeolite decreased to 50% at over 350 ℃. Metal phosphate ion exchangers are expected to be excellent materials for removing alkali metal ion from clean coal producing process.
