Removal of Sulfur Compounds in FCC Raw C4 Using Activated Carbon Impregnated with Transition Metal

There are several processes to remove the sulfur compounds, such as HDS, selective adsorption, bio mechanism and so on. Above all, the most promising method is the removal of sulfur compounds using selective adsorption in terms of the aspect of economic cost and convenience of process. In this study, the effects of pre-treatment on activated carbon to remove sulfur compounds were investigated in liquid phase of fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) C4s. An impregnation effects of transtion metal was performed to improve the efficiency of the activated carbon for efficient sulfur compound. The efficiency of the adsorbents were strongly related with pore structure and the chemistry of the surface. The impregnation of transition metal into the activated carbon increased the efficiency of sulfur removal from FCC C4s.
