Influence of Acid and Base Catalysts on the Formation of TiO2 Nanocrystalline Films for Performance of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

This study investigates the influence of acid/basic catalyst used in the synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles on the performance of Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The crystalline size and porosity of TiO2 films were easily controlled by changing acid or basic catalyst concentration. They affect the short circuit current and cell efficiency in DSSCs. It was found that the performance of DSSCs fabricated with base-treated TiO2 was remarkably better than that with acid-treated TiO2.
