Adsorption equilibrium of C6 fraction on 5A zeolite

Adsorption isotherms of C6 fraction on 5A zeolite with different calcium exchangeability were investigated. And the structure of 5A zeolite was characterized by XRD, XRF. It is found that the adsorption amount of n-hexane on sample 1# (calcium exchangeability of 63.82%), sample 2# (calcium exchangeability of 78.62%) and sample 3# (calcium exchangeability of 80.99%) is 13.63 g/100g ads, 15.50 g/100g ads and 17.84 g/100g ads respectively at 298K. The adsorption amount of 2-methylpentane, 3-methylpentane, methylcyclopentane on sample 3# is only 0.25 g/100g ads, 0.35 g/100g ads, 0.30g/100g ads, far lower than that of n-hexane. However, the adsorption amount of C6 fraction on sample 3# is 16.74g/100g ads, which is close with n-hexane reagent. Additionally electric field strength of 5A zeolite becomes stronger with the increase of calcium exchangeability as consequence of the decrease of interplanar spacing by XRD. The results can provide the theoretical foundation for Pressure Swing Adsorption in order to get high purity n-hexane (mass content ?Y98.5%).
