Adsorption characteristics of carbon dioxide and nitrogen on alkali ion exchanged X and Y zeolite paper
High pressure drop in PSA/TSA process results in high energy consumption and decrease recovery and performance. Honeycomb structural adsorbent has several advantages over normal pellet materials such as lower pressure drop and improved heat transfer. The honeycomb materials can be made from zeolite paper. In the present work, a number of zeolite papers loaded with 50% of NaX, NaY and Li +, Ca ++ ion exchanged X were prepared, and ceramic fiber was used as a binder material. The structure, pore size distribution as well as the adsorption capacities for CO2 and N2 was determined with SEM, XRD and a volumetric adsorption apparatus. In a breakthrough study, 13X honeycomb adsorbent was used to capture CO2 from air streams, and the saturated adsorbent was fully regenerated by hot N2 (300 ℃) gas flow. The CO2 adsorption capacity with the honeycomb structural zeolite was also tested.
