Effect of Spacer-Filled Channel Height on Membrane Separation of Oxygen Enrichment

CFD method was used to simulate mass transfer for membrane processes of oxygen enrichment with different channel heights, which was found to have a great influence on gas separation performance in terms of oxygen enrichment concentration, flux, pressure drop, mass transfer and energy consumption. The results from CFD simulations indicated that an optimal channel height 0.5mm~1.0mm. This research can be taken as a foundation to obtain a deep insight into the effect channel geometric parameters on the gas membrane separation and to evaluate a sufficient criterion for the development of a channel. CFD method proves to be a reliable tool for design and optimization of spacer-filled channel geometry.
