Effects of kind of silver and thickness for olefin/paraffin separation by facilitated transport

Olefin and paraffin separation by facilitated transport membrane, using silver salt as carriers, has been considered as a promising alternative to the conventional cryogenic distillation processes. The facilitated membranes containing sulfonated polymer (such as SPEEK)-Ag salt layers on top of polyester supports were prepared and tested for the separation of olefin from paraffin. The separation process depends on various kinds of Ag-salt which are AgNO3, AgBF4, and AgClO4 and thickness of facilitated transport membranes. In this study, we compared the dependence of the propylene flux of sulfonated polymer/Ag-salt membranes on kind of silver salt and their thickness.
