Separation and Purification of Linoleic Acid from Sunflower Oil by Urea Complexation
Using sunflower oil from P.R. China as raw material, applying an improved method of urea complexation, thorough experimental research was performed on the technical conditions to separate and purify linoleic acid (LA) from sunflower oil. In the complexation process, some important factors were investigated. The results indicate that it is favorable to the purification of the fatty acid to slowly lower the crystallization temperature, and the ratio of urea fatty acid is a key factor, and the ratio of ethanol urea, crystallization temperature and crystallization time did not significantly affect the content and recovery of LA. Under optimal conditions, the content of LA (from 61.4% to 90.3%) and the recovery of LA ( 72.5% ) from sunflower oil were obtained at the ratio urea-to-fatty acid (w/w) 1.5, the ratio of ethanol-to-urea (v/w) 6, crystallization temperature 10 ℃, and crystallization time 17 h.
