Recrystallization of Oral Drug in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Drug fine particle was prepared by using an Aerosol Solvent Extraction System (ASES) with supercritical CO2. The effect of the weight ratio of CO2 to solution, solvent type, and solution concentration on the particle size and morphology was investigated. The particle morphology was analyzed by a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The size of primary particle was measured to be 0.1~0.2 |ì m and the shape was similar to spherical type. The size of secondary particle was about 0.3~0.6 |ì m, as a result of primary particle agglomeration, the shape was irregular. After ASES process the CPD particle was remained as amorphous form.
