Real-Time Tracking of Substations Feeder Current Based on Traction Calculation

With the advances in software development techniques, digital computer simulation of train movement and traction power systems has been widely adopted as a standard computer-aided engineering tool. Signaling, traction power system and traction drives, which are main sub-systems of electrified railway system, are closely interconnected and interactive. Based on traction calculation, this paper designs the whole simulation structure for AC electrified railway system and thus realizes the real-time tracking of substations parameters. The paper introduces the methods of load flow computing for traction power system and Newton-Raphson, SLPFM and PQ decoupled methods have been used to perform identical calculations for benchmarking. The simulation results of a real system with 10 trains prove that PQ decoupled method is one of the most efficient ways to solve the traction computing. Finally the paper gives an example of successfully tracking a specific real-time system.
