Fabrication of Heterogeneous Magnetic Gold Films via Aqueous Reduction
This paper reports a novel aqueous preparation of gold-supported magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) heterogenous films via reduction effect of a solution mixture of hydrogen tetrachloroaureate(III) trihydrate (HAuCl4) and amino-functionalized Fe3O4 NPs with further addition of reduction agent. The heterogenous films were characterized by XRD, SEM, XPS and SQUID magnetometry. The films demonstrated a morphology of high surface area-to-volume ratio because of close-packed Fe3O4 NPs on the reduced gold substrate, and their saturation magnetization were about 12.3 emu?g-1 per square centimeter. These heterogenous magnetic gold films with unordinary nanostructure provide properties combination and possible new functions such as gas sensing or catalytic purposes.
