Improved Skin/Lip-color Modeling Method for Visual-only Lip-reading
Localization for Region of Interest (ROI) is an important step in lip-reading system. In this paper, an improved skin/lip-color model integrating saturation component with (Cb, Cr) components is set up for more robust ROI localization. Further, to make the sampling operation more convenient, an efficient sampling method which incorporates skin/lip sampling into one sampling operation is proposed and the distributions of skin/lip can be obtained simultaneously by using Gaussian mixture model (GMM). Then the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is carried out for visual features extraction. Finally, recognition using Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) method is performed under various DCT coefficients dimension.
