Lack of Association Between SLC25A12 and Autism in Chinese Han Population

Autism is a complex, largely genetic neurodevelopmental disorder. Earlier studies have defined several susceptibility chromosomal regions. SLC25A12 located in 2q24-q33, one of the susceptibility regions, and significant association with autism has been reported for two SNPs (rs2056202, rs2292813) in SLC25A12. We attempt to replicate the results in Chinese Han people using the case–control comparison, transmission disequilibrium test and haplotype analysis. Our studies failed to find any significant association for SNPs test, suggesting that SLC25A12 is not a major contributor to autism susceptibility in Chinese Han people.
