The expression of Trem-1 in the patients with endometriosis
Objectives Trem-1 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells)-1 is one member of the novel receptors of Ig superfamily. In this study, we investigated the roles of Trem-1 in the pathogenesis of endometriosis (EMS). Methods The level of sTrem-1 were measured by ELISA in women with or without EMS, and the expression of Trem-1 mRNA in the peripheral leucocytes in 6 cases of women with EMS and 6 cases of women without EMS using real-time RT-PCR. And the expression of Trem-1 in the ectopic endometrium of women with endometriosis was analysed with immunohistochemistry. Results There were significant differences in sTrem-1 levels in peritoneal fluid and serum between EMS patients and control (P<0.01). The expressions of Trem-1 mRNA in the women with and without EMS were 0.765±0.022 and 0.695±0.035, respectively. There was also significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). But, there was not expression of Trem-1 in the ectopic endometrium. Conclusion The expression of Trem-1 in women with EMS was up-regulated, suggesting that Trem-1 might play an important role in the occurrence and development of EMS.
