Multi-focus Image Fusion using Watershed Region Segmentation and Morphological Wavelet Transform
An image with every scene parts in focus contains more information and is useful in many fields such as biomedical imaging, microscopic imaging,remote sensing, computer vision and robotics. In this paper, a novel region-based multi-focus image fusion algorithm is proposed. Firstly, two or multiple multifocus images are fused using simple average method.Then the intermediate fused image is segmented using watershed method. Finally the source images are fused according to the segmented regions, where the activity measure of regions is evaluated by the coefficients of morphological wavelet decomposition. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well on multi-focus image fusion.
