CONSTRUCTION PERFOAMNCE OF EPB SHIELD TUNNELS ON CHANNEL RAIL LINK CONTRACT 220 IN LONDON
As part of the project for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, shield tunnel construction of CTRL contract 220 that stretches around 7.5 km from Stratford station in east London to London St. Pancras station was carried out by EPB shield method. This paper describes a case-history of high-speed construction of long tunnels in London and several measures taken to prosecute the work including construction performance. Monitoring results during shield driving, particularly focusing on the ground surface movements and existing tunnel behaviour, are also discussed, comparing with those based on the empirical method and FE analysis.
