STUDY OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF WASTE GLASS FRAGMENT AS A SAND CUSHION MATERIAL FOR FLAT TYPE BLOCK
In this study, we try to apply waste glass fragment which is a recycling material of colored glass bottle to a sand cushion material for flat type block. The quality specifications based on the present design of sand cushion are examined and field tests are performed by loading a tire of a car. The displacements and the earth pressures at the boundary of the cushion material and original ground are measured by this loading test, and the mechanical properties of waste glass fragment which is man-made sand are compared with natural sand. As a result, it is made clear that waste glass fragment has a better quality for flat type block compared with natural sand.
