A RSM MODEL FOR THE PREDICTION OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN A VENTILATED ROOM

A full-scale test room is used to investigateexperimentally and numerically the velocity andtemperature fields in the case of a mechanicalventilation. Detailed fields are measured for threecases of ventilation air temperature: an isothermalcase, a hot case and a cold case. The experimentaldata are used to test two turbulence models: a firstorder k-|? turbulence model and a second order RSMturbulence model. The RSM model predicts thetemperature and velocity fields better than the k-|?turbulence model. In particular, global values ofvelocity and temperature coming from experimentsare in good agreement with the RSM turbulencemodel. This model is therefore recommended forsimulation of ventilated enclosures with thermaleffects.
