SIMULATIONS OF LOW-ENERGY BUILDING IN EUROPEAN PROJECT AN EXAMPLE IN LYON, FRANCE
The Lyon Confluence project is an actual urbanplanning operation of Lyon agglomeration. It is part of a global sustainable development process, mixingeconomic development, social equity andpreservation of natural resources. Due to ambitiousrequirements in term of energy consumption leveland indoor thermal comfort, the project implies anew way of thinking in the design of Frenchconstruction. The consortium composed for this project bringstogether national and European-level expertise forfinding solutions to insulate and also avoidoverheating during summertime withoutconventional cooling system.During the phase of building conceiving numericalsimulations have been led by the CETHIL on thesoftware TRNSYS in order to check (energyconsumption and thermal comfort) each architectproposal on the whole area. In case of detected nonsatisfying design, Lyon consortium was in charge ofimposing different way of improvement. Themodeling and study of one apartment show howimportant is to increase the free cooling by naturalventilation during the hot period. This paper presents the ambitious standards that haveto be respected into this new project in France. Itshows the propositions and the research that areactually in progress on the topic of high efficiencybuildings.
